Why does the US CLOUD Act pose a risk to Slack users?

The CLOUD Act obliges US companies to disclose data to authorities, even if they are located outside the US. This means that every European Slack workspace is potentially accessible to the FBI, NSA and other agencies. For critical infrastructure, authorities, public safety, clinics and administrations, this is an unacceptable security risk. Teamwire is subject exclusively to German and European law.

Can Slack serve as a communication channel in an emergency or in the event of an IT failure?

No. Slack is dependent on the AWS cloud infrastructure and your own company IT. In the event of cyber attacks, server failures or network disruptions, Slack often fails at the same time. Teamwire, on the other hand, is built for emergencies:
