A significant step for the future of operational communications in Germany: Teamwire is now an official partner in the Frequentis MissionX Ecosystem. With this partnership, Teamwire’s secure messenger becomes an integral part of a 3GPP-standardised MCX architecture, bringing mission-critical communications from theory into widespread use.
What does the partnership actually mean?
The Frequentis MissionX Ecosystem brings together leading suppliers and service providers to develop interoperable, scalable solutions for mission-critical communications. As a new partner, Teamwire brings its extensive practical experience from the German market – in particular from its deployment with a large proportion of the state police forces and numerous critical infrastructure organisations.
This creates a strong market position for MCX-based communications. Frequentis provides the platform and the standardised ecosystem, whilst Teamwire contributes its tried-and-tested messaging interface – highly valued by civil servants – as well as in-depth experience in public safety and critical infrastructure.
Specifically, the integration expands the MissionX Ecosystem to include:
- Integration of MCPTT, MCData and MCVideo within the framework of the 3GPP standards for voice, data and video
- Direct access via the familiar Teamwire interface, without emergency services personnel having to change the way they work
- Prioritised communication via LTE/5G for reliable connections even under heavy load
- Seamless interoperability with MissionX and existing public safety systems
Why this matters for public safety and critical infrastructure in Germany
Public safety authorities and organisations, as well as operators of critical infrastructure, face a key challenge: they must gradually migrate from established narrowband technologies such as TETRA to broadband-capable platforms – without jeopardising operational continuity.
This is precisely where the extended ecosystem comes into play. It enables hybrid communication architectures in which TETRA and broadband (LTE/5G) are operated in parallel. Rather than undertaking a high-risk, complete replacement of existing infrastructure, organisations can manage technological transitions incrementally.
Standardised, vendor-neutral platforms are key to this: they prevent dependence on individual suppliers and safeguard long-term investments.
For Teamwire, this step fits seamlessly into its own positioning. As a German company offering secure hosting exclusively on German servers, with ISO 27001 and BSI C5 certification, as well as a zero-trust security concept, Teamwire has been meeting the requirements of regulated and security-critical sectors for years. Integration into a standardised MCX architecture now extends this strength to include true interoperability in mission-critical communications.
A contribution to digital sovereignty
The modernisation of emergency communications is also a matter of digital sovereignty for Europe. Standardised, interoperable solutions operated within Europe reduce dependencies and strengthen the resilience of critical communication channels – particularly in emergency and crisis situations, where availability is of the utmost importance.
By joining the MissionX Ecosystem, Frequentis and Teamwire are taking MCX from theory to widespread practical application: secure, interoperable and ready for everyday use.
