The group operates in security technology and emergency call management—areas that demand highly reliable, secure, and GDPR-compliant communication. Their customers include numerous mid-sized companies as well as private customers.

Starting Point

Challenge

Before introducing Teamwire, internal communication at GS electronic was anything but consistent. Employees used WhatsApp, Telegram, an app from their telecom provider, and various other collaboration tools—essentially whatever seemed most convenient at the time.

A fragmented communication landscape where important information was frequently lost.

 

“Eventually, the complaints started: ‘I sent you a message—why didn’t you respond?’ The problem was that everyone was using different tools. It wasn’t a unified company-wide solution, but rather a patchwork of apps,” recalls Bernd Bütergerds (Head of IT).

 

Data protection concerns added another layer of complexity. With the introduction of the GDPR, it became clear that tools like WhatsApp were no longer an option – especially in the sensitive area of emergency call handling. The company needed a solution that bundled all communication channels, met the highest security standards, and was easy to use.

Requirements for the Solution

GS electronic was looking for a messenger that could meet three key criteria:

 

  • Full GDPR compliance with European hosting – to guarantee data protection and sovereignty.
  • Centralized administration with LDAP integration – so users could be created and managed automatically.
  • Best user experience comparable to popular messengers – ensuring rapid adoption with minimal training.

 

In addition, the ability to program custom bots and integrate systems such as the monitoring solution “Icinga” played a significant role in the selection process.

After an in-depth evaluation process comparing several alternatives, GS electronic ultimately chose Teamwire. Teamwire offered the best combination of data protection, user-friendliness, and integration capabilities.

 

Bernd Bütergerds explains: „Data protection was our top priority. But unlike many other solutions, Teamwire doesn’t sacrifice usability for security – and that was the deciding factor.“

 

One of the most compelling features was LDAP integration. This allowed the IT team to centrally manage user accounts, automatically create groups, and ensure employees were always connected with the right contacts.

Another major advantage for GS electronic was the ability for the in-house development team to integrate custom bots.

„Bots are a huge added value for us—especially in the area of monitoring. When a server or service goes down, we receive an instant notification via Teamwire. We’ve also developed our own bots specifically for emergency scenarios.“

Implementation: Smooth and Straightforward

Teamwire was rolled out at GS electronic in May 2022—initially with 100 licenses. The benefits quickly became evident, leading to multiple license expansions. Today, around 200 employees actively use Teamwire.

 

We wouldn’t have ordered so many additional licenses if we hadn’t been satisfied,” says Bernd Bütergerds.

 

Implementation was handled centrally via software distribution, and Bütergerds’ team encountered no issues deploying the solution. Initially, there were minor technical hurdles with the LDAP connection, but these were quickly resolved by Teamwire support.

 

On smartphones, the app’s interface feels familiar, resembling popular messengers like WhatsApp, which significantly increased user adoption.

Results: Unified Communication and Greater Efficiency

Clear Structures Instead of Chaos

Teamwire has replaced the previously fragmented communication landscape at GS electronic. Today, there is a single, centralized platform for all internal communication—across every department, project, and location.

 

Efficient Project and Emergency Communication

Temporary project chats and “info ticker” channels have proven particularly valuable. Whether dealing with IT outages, telecom disruptions, or special projects, everyone involved is immediately informed and kept up to date—eliminating countless follow-ups and saving valuable time.

 

Teamwire has also made a big impact on emergency call handling. Employees located in different buildings can coordinate in real time to see which alarms have already been processed in the system.

Smart Automations

By integrating Teamwire with the monitoring system Icinga, technical disruptions are automatically reported to the responsible staff using a bot. In addition, a custom emergency bot ensures standardized processes and clear communication when critical incidents occur.

Management Always in the Loop

The management team uses Teamwire in a dedicated leadership chat, where all department heads are promptly informed about important issues. This makes C-level communication intuitive, secure, and fully compliant with data protection regulations.
