Taurus Pflegeservice GmbH has been a leading provider of out-of-hospital intensive care in the Hanover metropolitan region since 2003. With around 160 nursing staff, the company offers round-the-clock care for clients in demanding one-to-one care situations.

 

Two training facilities complement the range of services: a school for recognizing foreign nursing qualifications and a traditional nursing college with over 100 trainees.

Initial Situation

The Challenge

Taurus Pflegeservice was faced with the typical challenges in the care sector:

 

Communication for short-notice duty assignments proved inefficient and time-consuming, as these were usually organized by telephone. This not only led to considerable effort but also to additional stress for the care service managers.

 

At the same time, data protection issues posed a serious risk: Many employees frequently resorted to WhatsApp to quickly exchange information – a clear violation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

 

In addition, the nursing staff needed a digital solution that was intuitive to use and could be introduced without significant training.

 

Another challenge was the geographical dispersion of the employees, as many work on the move and are often based far outside the city of Hanover. Therefore, Taurus Pflegeservice placed a key importance on a reliable and fast communication solution.

Requirements

Taurus Pflegeservice needed a communication solution that

 

  • is GDPR-compliant and offers the highest security standards,

  • has an intuitive user interface that employees can use without training,

  • enables group chats for quick staffing,

  • offers video calls and telephone functions for the integration of international specialists.

Solution: Why Teamwire?

The aim was to find a data protection-compliant communication solution with an intuitive and easy-to-use user interface. After an evaluation process that considered alternatives such as Rocket.chat, Teamwire was ultimately chosen.

 

The main deciding factor was the app’s user-friendliness. “If you can use WhatsApp, you can also use Teamwire,” emphasizes Managing Director Carsten Knigge.

 

At the same time, the solution impressed with its strict compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): Communication takes place securely, without access to private contacts.

 

Another advantage of Teamwire is the flexibility it offers international teams. Since the app does not require a cell phone number, foreign nursing staff can be integrated via email accounts before they arrive in Germany – even if they do not yet have a German SIM card.

 

The strong references also played a role in the decision:

Renowned companies such as Die Continentale, Vodafone, and TÜV, as well as organizations such as the police or fire departments and other care services, already rely on Teamwire. For Taurus Pflegeservice, this was a clear signal that Teamwire was also the ideal solution for its needs.

Introduction of the Software

The implementation of Teamwire went smoothly and was well received by the employees.

 

Around 10% of nursing staff use company cell phones, while the remaining team members have installed the app on their personal devices. To ensure that all employees were familiar with the new communication solution, employees with less smartphone experience, in particular, were offered personal instruction.

 

The management attached great importance to clear and transparent communication to highlight the advantages of Teamwire over WhatsApp. It was emphasized that Teamwire is more secure and GDPR-compliant and makes day-to-day work much easier. This targeted introduction increased acceptance of the app and ensured that Teamwire was quickly integrated into everyday working life.

In the past, care service managers needed to make phone calls for hours to compensate for short-term absences. Today, services are filled in seconds via a group chat.

 

Services can be exchanged just as easily and quickly without requiring long phone calls or extensive e-mail exchanges.

“Monday morning, 7:30 a.m. – a colleague calls in sick. In the past, the shift manager had to call every single employee. Today, we write in the Teamwire group chat: ‘Vacancy at 9 a.m. at client X. Who can?’ It usually only takes 60 seconds for the service to be staffed.”

Integration of International Specialists

With Teamwire, nursing staff can be integrated even before they arrive in Germany. Thanks to the link via e-mail addresses, a cell phone number is not needed.
